BMI Calculator
Body mass index compares your weight to your height. It’s a crude measure, but a useful starting point — provided you know what it doesn’t account for.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored anywhere.

What the number means
| BMI | Category |
|---|---|
| Below 18.5 | Underweight |
| 18.5 – 24.9 | Healthy weight |
| 25.0 – 29.9 | Overweight |
| 30.0 and above | Obese |
These are the WHO international cut-offs. They are not universal: several health bodies apply lower thresholds for South Asian, Chinese, and Japanese populations, because metabolic risk tends to appear at a lower BMI.
BMI also cannot distinguish muscle from fat, says nothing about where weight sits on your body, and is unreliable during pregnancy, in older adults with reduced muscle mass, and in children.

A number on its own is context-free. A consultation puts it alongside your history, your labs, and your goals.
